Gavel Clubs are affiliates of Toastmasters International, the leading movement whose sole purpose is to develop public speaking and communication skills of individuals. We, the University of Ruhuna Gavel Club which started in March 2014 is no exception and strive to develop and enhance the communication and leadership skills of the students of our university.
At Ruhuna Gavel, everyone is friendly and supportive. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced speaker you are always welcomed and valued. We believe in progress like a family, together.
The environment we create for our members is one where they get to be themselves and express themselves with confidence and quick thinking. You are provided with a safe space and a group of friends that will help you improve in many aspects – with regular attendance and engagement speaking will be one of your superpowers.
The club operates under the guidance of Toastmasters International and uses the very same training programs and manuals that are used worldwide. Through these tested and proven methodologies, we create a platform for our members to hone their speaking, listening, thinking, and leadership skills.
